What we believe

Using a tool shouldn't feel like suffering. It should feel like power.

We make every tool worthy of the hands that work. Good enough is a lie: if there is a doubt, there is no doubt, and it does not ship.

In sixty seconds

What is VortexHaus. What is MACH.

VortexHaus is an American company built by a team on three continents: a US company, 95% of its owners in the United States, returns and repairs in Plano, Texas; product designed in Bristol by an ex-Dyson team, built on our own tooling in Suzhou, tested by a lab that does not work for us, and owned by more than 33,000 people who rate it 4.7.

MACH is our flagship: a handheld blower with the thrust of a full-size machine, running on the DeWalt, Milwaukee or Makita battery you already own. No battery to buy, nothing to charge twice. Pull the trigger for 90 days; if it does not blow you away, send it back on us.

The name

Vortex, and Haus.

A Haus that builds storms. The Haus is the company: quiet, white, few words, the people and the promise. The Machines are the products: black, red, thrust. You are reading the Haus. When you pull the trigger, you meet the Machine.

Vortex, and Haus.

How it started

It started in my grandfather's garage.

All my life I have been fascinated by people who build things. One of them was my grandfather, a woodworker. From my earliest days I fell in love with it. I would go into his garage and stand amazed at all the American brands in there: the black Craftsman table saw we had, the DeWalt tools, hundreds of tools. And I noticed one thing. All of them kind of worked, but you only enjoyed working with a few of them. People spend thousands of dollars on tools, and most of them sit in the dust and never get used.

Fast forward to today. Together with a strong team, we are solving that. At VortexHaus we build tools you actually enjoy using. My vision is simple: using a tool shouldn't feel like suffering. It should feel like power. A tool is not something you are made to use. It is the other way round: it is an extension of you. When you pull the trigger on MACH, our flagship, you smile like a child. We see it in everyone, from a young kid to an old man: they squeeze it, and they smile. I don't know exactly why you smile. What I know for sure is that all of us at VortexHaus are having fun while we solve the problem of boring power tools. And we don't take it for granted.

Welcome to VortexHaus.

How MACH was built

The first tool we built from a blank page.

We learned the hard way what "boring" costs. A factory once told us 130,000 RPM and we believed it, once. The unit did not do what the paper said, and we have run on one rule ever since: never publish a number a lab has not signed.

MACH took [n] months, [n] prototypes and our own tooling. Our engineers in Bristol designed the air path, the housing, the trigger and the protections around the motor, then broke them on the rig until they stopped breaking. A third-party lab measured the result. It is the first tool we are proud to explain part by part; that is why The Lab exists.

The people

Who builds it.

Product and design in Bristol with Neil Macqueen (ex-Dyson) and his team: Ben, Alex, Andrea. Sourcing and quality at our partner factory in Suzhou with Qin Li. Owners and content with Krav. The company led by Arthur, its founder, from the UAE. Operations with Alvin. The owner desk: Justine, who signs her replies.

Where the money goes

Why $279, in one honest paragraph.

A $59 blower pays for a fake spec sheet and a listing. MACH pays for our own moulds, a team of engineers, a lab that measures what we claim, a factory with our own person on the floor, and a promise that costs us real money when we are wrong. We grow by putting the margin back into the product: new nozzles, colours, materials, the next machine. That is what you back when you buy one.

The factory

Built on our own tooling, in Suzhou.

MACH is built by our partner factory in Suzhou, a city we did not choose blind: Makita and Worx build there too. We opened our own tooling; the moulds are ours, with our name on them. Qin is on the floor for every batch. You can watch the whole line on Quality & Standards.
